Palmerston North City Council has a number of one-year licences for this system, which it is giving away for free to community groups in Palmerston North. Users can set up a customised account, and search the database of organizations that provide funding. If you don’t want to have a licence of your own, you can go on PNCC’s email list to receive a monthly calendar with detailed information about upcoming grants, which can be searched for grants relevant to your organization.

Local body elections are coming up on October 12. ENM hosted Meet the Candidates meetings, with questions relevant to the environmental community sector. Other organizations are also holding meetings. Manawatū People's Radio are recording all Meet the Candidates meetings, and the audio is available on demand online.

The Rangiwahia Environmental Arts Centre Trust run creative projects within the community such as the annual Lantern Parade. They are seeking volunteers who have an interest in creativity, the environment and who like people, to be hands on in public workshops and at events.

Te Kāuru Hapu Collective and community volunteers planted native plants at the headwaters of the Manawatū River, near Norsewood. Landowners along the river are retiring land on the river's banks, to increase biodiversity and improve water quality.

The purpose of this document is to provide information to the community on the current state and trends of the region's natural resources: climate, air, land and water. Also included are some case studies that highlight work being undertaken to address key pressures.

Do you have children or young people who are interested in getting out in Nature? The 50+ organizations that make up ENM work in a range of areas – biodiversity, water quality, food security, waste minimization, urban design, alternative energy, and active transport. Many are happy to involve children and young people in their activities, introducing them to the natural environment and sustainable living; a few groups cater especially for children or young people.

This ENM / Source to sea citizen science project, in conjunction with Massey University, is well under way, with half of the randomly selected sites now sampled. There are still sites available - book your group if you want to join in. Sorting and counting volunteers will also be needed once collection is finished.

This online event calls on participants to take up the feral as a way to explore the possibilities and problems of the human relation to the non-human world. From biosecurity to so-called invasive species, ‘dead zones’ to re-wilding to urban pests, the idea of the feral calls on us to interrogate our assumptions about how, what, where and why nature ought to be, how we draw those lines and distinctions and how they speak to wider structures of power, political economy and privilege.

​Applications to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) for imports of alien species and new toxins seem to be coming in thick and fast. Environment and Conservation Organizations of Aotearoa New Zealand needs help from entomologists, botanists, biochemists and others in helping to understand the possible impacts of these.

This is an online guide to assist individuals, community groups and businesses to more effectively participate in environmental management decision-making processes. The Guide is written in plain English and is easy to use. It covers a wide range of environmental legislation and processes.

The QEII Community Weedbusters Project is a joint programme run by Weedbusters NZ and the QEII National Trust. Using a fund granted by DOC’s Community Conservation Partnership Fund the project supports voluntary weedbusting efforts by community groups in priority regions around the country.
